Two notorious robbers said to be terrorising Nyandarua residents were nabbed by sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday as two others escaped.

DCI’s Special Service Unit had launched a manhunt for the gang following a series of robberies reported in Nyahururu and Nyandarua sub-counties.

The detectives managed to arrest David Kireithi Mwangi and Harrison Kihara Njiraini at Kasuku town while their counterparts escape.

According to DCI, the gang has been initiating series of robberies with violence in the county. One of their most recent victim was an Administrative Police officer whom they robbed a Ceska pistol.

On November 30, 2019, the suspects allegedly robbed a resident Sh3,000 and dropped the pistol’s magazine after they were confronted by boda boda operators at Karai along the Nyeri – Nyahururu road.

The magazine had 10 bullets.

“Upon interrogation, they led the detectives to a makeshift structure in Nyahururu town where a Ceska pistol that had been stolen from an AP officer was recovered,” said DCI.

On February 8, 2020, the said gang allegedly stormed Success bar in Nyahururu town and robbed revellers their valuables.
