Two KCSE candidates are sitting for their exams at Kapenguria referral hospital after they delivered days before the exams commenced.

One candidate from St.Patrick Simotwo secondary school delivered a baby boy two weeks before the exams commenced and was not able to leave the hospital because her baby had been placed in an incubator.

Pokot South sub-county deputy commissioner Frederick Kimanga said the candidate had been staying at the hospital monitoring her baby and would only be permitted to leave the hospital when the baby is fully mature.

"The candidate will continue sitting for her exams at the hospital the day she will be discharged. She is being supervised under tight security," he said.

West pokot county director of education Jacob Onyiego said another Candidate from Pser secondary school delivered overnight at Kapenguria referral hospital and she is also sitting for her exams at the hospital.

"We have made plans for all pregnant candidates to undertake their exams at a nearby health center. They are all supervised and will receive their exams on time," said Onyiego.

He noted that the KCSE 2019 kicked off well with no transportation hitches unlike during KCPE exams where exams delayed in some centers due to impassable roads after heavy downpour.

"We are working to ensure all candidates do their exams comfortably," said Onyiego
