700 exhibitors set to showcase their products at China-Canton Fair

The 126th China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) exhibition that is set for mid-October 2019 in Guangzhou, China, has attracted over 700 traders.

According to, Vice Chairman of Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Nairobi Chapter Geoffrey Kimani, the Canton Fair serves as a platform for promoting bilateral trade between Kenya and China.

"This is the kind of expo that serves as an avenue for Kenyan traders to export goods to the vast Chinese market as well as source latest technology that they can use to improve their local products," Kimani said.

 

Speaking during the official launch of expo in Nairobi, Deputy Director General of China Foreign Trade Center Wen Zhongliang said that the 126th edition of the Canton Fair will take place in three phases based on product categories.

"This year expect over 160,000 categories of products, 250,000 Chinese export enterprises and more than 600 companies from 30 different countries across the globe exhibiting. The Canton Fair has become the most convenient channel for opening the Chinese market to the rest of the world,” said Zhongliang.

The Canton Fair will mainly focus on areas like electronics and household appliances, mechanical products, building materials, hardware tools and daily consumer goods.

Zhongliang added that the Chinese trade fair was first inaugurated in 1957 and is a biannual event held between autumn and spring with each expo session attracting around 200,000 buyers from all over the world.

The 2019 edition will also see 150,000 square meters devoted to showcasing daily consumer goods from more than 3,800 exhibitors, while 85,000 square meters will contain electronics and household appliances from nearly 2,000 enterprises.

Zhongliang added that research shows that buyers from every business line will be able to find suitable suppliers and new business opportunities at canton fair.
