A 57-year-old man has been accused of defiling his 16-year-old niece after threatening her with a knife.

Yesterday, the Standard Seven pupil, identified in court papers as DN, narrated how the man lured her to his house.

She said her mother had sent her to the shopping centre, but on her way she met her uncle who asked her to go to his house.

After getting in, the man turned violent. He drew a knife and threatened to slit her throat if she screamed before defiling her.

“He had always been a good neighbour and uncle. I never doubted him when he called me," the girl said.

"When I came close to him, he grabbed me and produced a knife, threatening to harm me if I screamed.”

The incident occurred on December 12, 2018 at Sisanyo Village in Kakamega Central District.

DN told Kakamega Chief Magistrate Bildad Ochieng’ that after the ordeal, the accused released her but warned her against revealing the defilement to anyone.

Mr Ochieng' adjourned the matter to November 4 to give the prosecution time to gather evidence.

The accused was held after failing to raise Sh300,000 bond.
