State agency's top managers to know fate from DPP

The Ethics and Anti-corruption commission (EACC) has concluded investigations on senior managers of a State corporation accused of graft.

Three top managers of Pyrethrum Processing Company of Kenya (PPCK) will now know their fate after EACC South Rift Regional Director Hassan Khalid said yesterday their file has been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The managers are said to have misused the agency's funds.  He, however, was cagey on details of the investigations saying the media will be briefed later.

The investigations started in March 2018 when detectives raided the offices and homes of the senior managers.

Sources told The Standard that the probe centered on rent collected from property owned by PCCK. The source revealed that out of Sh2 million collected every month, only Sh247,000 could be accounted for.

EACC sleuths also probed Sh20 million that was allocated for establishment of a pyrethrum seedling nursery in Samburu County, which was never put up.

Also on EACC's radar was how Sh144 million that was released by the government last year to settle salary arrears and statutory deductions for workers was used.

“PPCK has not settled the statutory deduction for employees up to date. Others have not been paid,”  the source said.
