Ken Okoth memorial held at Starehe Boys Centre and School

A memorial service for the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth was held at Starehe Boys Centre and School in Nairobi.

This is after the conclusion of a private viewing ceremony of the deceased body at the Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi.

School Chaplain Reverend Josephat Wangoto lead the service.

Among the guests who attended the event include Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju, former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth among other government officials. Starehe alumni and students who were sponsored by the late Okoth were also in attendance.

The deceased passed on at the Nairobi Hospital on Friday last week after a long battle with colorectal cancer.

The school remembers the late Kibra MP not only as alumni but also as a man who “had a passion for education – both for himself and others.”

“His legacy will most notably be defined by the schools he built and the hundreds of young people he enabled to obtain a quality education – this starting long before he entered public service,” read part of the tribute by the institution.

During his time at the institution, the school acknowledges that the late had many life-long friends, participated in a variety of co-curricular and cultural activities and excelled at his studies.

It is from the very institution that his leadership skills were natured since he was part of the student leadership that essentially runs the Centre.

The school also celebrate him as a man whose leadership mirrored “Starehe Mintmark: Integrity, Sacrificial Service, Self-Discipline, Commitment to Excellence, Resilience and Fraternity.”
