Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu was on Sunday 28 July arrested after he presented himself at the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission offices in Nairobi.

DPP Noordin Haji had ordered the arrest of the Governor and his wife Susan Ndung’u on Friday evening for allegedly receiving Sh 51.2 million after M/S Testimony Enterprises Limited was awarded the tender for road works.

Governor Waititu and his wife were reported to be hiding after detectives failed to get hold of them despite having camped at their a residence as early as 5.30 AM on Saturday.

Waititu’s lawyer Kipchumba Karori said the governor had been “out of town since Friday evening” when news broke out he was wanted for prosecution.

According to EACC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Twalib Mbarak, his officers arrested M/S Testimony Enterprises Limited Director Charles Mbuthia Chege and two county tender evaluation committee members Joyce Ngina Musyoka and Simon Kabocho Kang’ethe yesterday morning.

However, the governor’s wife still remains at large.

The arrest of the governor has taken social media by storm with many expressing their reactions in different ways.

So people have been calling Waititu a fool yet even the whole government agencies can't find him, indeed India taught him escape tactics, but remember his office will be declared a scene of crime, and he may miss bail because he will go untraced again

Solomon Ambuku @solo_ambuku

Kiambu governor Waititu is being a fool, he's ruining his chances of being admitted to bail/bond, so once arrested he'll remain incarcerated for the entire period of the trial.

Wanjiku Kang'ethe(Shi) @Shikoohz

It seems #Waititu successfully worked on a plan to evade kamata Kamata Friday and weekend locking up till minutes ago. This trend of going to hiding might be followed by others, the courts should change tact and deny them cash bail accordingly when they appear in courts.

Road Alerts @RoadAlertsKE

They should let him go then arrest him next week Friday, ndio alale Ndani weekend yote. He was just avoiding that.
