Petrol prices rise as diesel goes down in July review

NAIROBI, KENYA: The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced new retail pump prices of petroleum products effective from July 15 to August 14, 2019.

The price of super petrol increase by Sh0.29 per litre while diesel and kerosene decreased by Sh0.88 and Sh2.31 per litre respectively.

“The changes in this month’s prices have been as a consequence of the average landed cost of imported Super Petrol decreasing by 1.83 per cent from Sh55,469.46 (USD538.8) per cubic metre in May 2019 to Sh54,384.37 (USD528.26),” EPRA said in a statement to newsrooms.

EPRA said the landed cost of diesel decreased by 3.07 per cent from Sh55,164.73 (USD535.84) per cubic metre to Sh53,471.20 (USD519.39); while that of kerosene decreased by 5.49 per cent from Sh55,164.73 (USD535.84) to Sh53,471.20 (USD519.39) per cubic metre.

Following the changes, super petrol in Nairobi will now cost Sh115.39, diesel Sh103.88 and kerosene Sh101.97 per litre.

In Mombasa, super petrol will retail at Sh112.74, diesel at Sh101.25 and kerosene at Sh99.35 per litre.

Motorists in Nakuru will buy super petrol at Sh115.86, diesel at Sh104.58 and kerosene at Sh102.69.
