Leaders eulogise former House clerk

Leaders from around the country yesterday eulogised former National Assembly clerk Justin Bundi as an industrious and diligent civil servant.

Speaking during the burial ceremony held at Chuka Boys High School in Tharaka Nithi County yesterday, the leaders, including Senate Deputy Speaker Kithure Kindiki and Governor Muthomi Njuki, commended Bundi for the role he played in the country's transition from the old to the 2010 Constitution, which brought about a bicameral legislature.

In a condolence message read by Tharaka Nithi County Commissioner Beverly Opwora on behalf of President Uhuru Kenyatta, the Head of State described Bundi as a dependable public officer who played a key role in the country’s legislative process.

“As a country, we are indebted to the late Bundi, who has left an indelible mark not only in Kenya but also in East Africa region for his outstanding role as a clerk in the East Africa Legislative Assembly,” read the speech.

Prof Kindiki asked other civil servants to emulate the impeccable commitment the former clerk had in public service.

County Woman Rep Beatrice Nkatha, Chuka Igambang’ombe MP Patrick Munene and his Taveta counterpart Naomi Shaban were also present.

Bundi is survived by a widow, seven children and grandchildren.
