Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has reshuffled her Cabinet to improve efficiency and service delivery.
The former Agriculture, Livestock Veterinary and Fisheries executive Jackan Gutu will now head the Environment, Water and Natural Resources.
The Water docket was headed by Jacqueline Wanjiku who has swapped places with Gutu while the Finance, Economic Planning, Trade, Marketing and ICT docket has been renamed Department of Finance and Economic Planning.
“We now henceforth have the Department of Finance and Economic Planning as we continue to improve service delivery to our people as promised during our campaigns,” Ms Waiguru said in a statement while announcing the changes.
Lynnette Wanjiru retained the Gender docket with added responsibility of the Youth while Dennis Gichobi the Sports, Culture and Social Services docket.
Several Chief Officers were also reshuffled, according to the statement released to the media yesterday.
Gutu was in the news recently after he appeared before the County Assembly Committee on Agriculture over the purchase of five dairy cows at Sh400,000 each.
The committee heard that the animals were secretly sneaked into Kamweti Farmers Training Centre without the knowledge of Chief Officer for Agriculture Stephen Gichangi.
