Integrated IDPs arrest their leader, take him to DCI office

Internally-Displaced Persons Initiative (IDPIs) members, "arrested" two of their officials and took them to the Nakuru Directorate of Criminal Investigations offices.

The IDPs staged a demonstration which started at the Nakuru Law Courts to DCI offices, after their Sh6.5 billion compensation case was postponed to March 22, 2019.

The IDPs claimed one of the officials had asked the court to adjourn the matter for two weeks as he sought to harmonise the names of the IDPs.

Members of the group blame the two for the alleged delay in compensation even after the funds were released.

Ng’ang’a Njoroge, a member of the group, claimed though the money was released two years ago, they were yet to receive it.

“Today in court, he (official) said the case filed in 2017 should not proceed to allow him time to harmonise the names of beneficiaries,” said Njoroge.

Beth Wairimu from Uasin Gishu County called on the Government to intervene.
