Occidental Insurance has excluded some car models from underwriting due to unavailability of their spare parts.

The insurer, through a notice to all business partners dated February 14, 2019, states that spare parts of these vehicles have become rare and obsolete posing a challenge when settling claims.

According to the insurer, all vehicles covered on a comprehensive basis shall be converted to Third Party only upon renewals.

The statement by Senior Underwriting officer David Mankone further says all Comprehensive vehicles must be up to 15 years of age for private vehicles and 12 years for commercial vehicles.
