Two men who survived after allegedly drinking a concoction that killed three of their colleagues have recorded statements.
The Standard caught up with the workers at the Karen Police Station yesterday.
The visibly shaken men walked with difficulty as they fought back tears while trying to hide their swollen faces from the cameras.
After telling the police what happened last Thursday at a construction site associated with Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi in Karen, one of the men attempted to talk to the Media only to be rebuked by his colleague.
“Si tuliambiwa tusiongee na mtu (we were told not to talk to anyone),” said one of the victims.
At exactly 1pm, they were ushered into a waiting Mercedes Benz and whisked away.
Pressed for comment, the police could only say they had started investigations into the incident.
Meanwhile, the ANC leadership has come out to defend Mr Mudavadi over what it termed as the 'unfortunate deaths' of three workers at a building in Karen.
Speaking from his Nyali home, ANC chairman Kelvin Lunani said that while it was unfortunate that people lost their lives and others got injured 'after imbibing some concoction', the public should not read too much into the incident.
"It is a serious matter where lives have been lost in the first place but police are investigating this matter. No stone will be left unturned as the truth has to be known," he said.
Mr Lunani said the ANC had made an official statement on the issue through Secretary General Barrack Muluka, and that Mudavadi had confirmed his association with the building via a tweet.
"Our party leader left for overseas engagements last Wednesday and will be away for another week," Lunani said, adding that the building was co-owned property.
