Parents who do not take their children to school risk being arrested and charged in court.
Speaking in his offices yesterday, County Commissioner Magu Mutindika yesterday said his administration had started a door-to-door operation to identify the students who had not joined Form One.
“We have also instructed principals to stop demanding illegal levies, especially the ones to do with lunch and uniform, to allow the students to first settle down,” said Mutindika.
He said 63 per cent of students in the county had joined Form One but noted that some sub-counties were not doing well.
Kilifi North and Ganze sub-counties had recorded the highest number of Form One admissions at 87 per cent and 84 per cent respectively.
Other sub-counties are Kaloleni (68 per cent) and Chonyi (64 per cent).
He said he was optimistic that by tomorrow, the county would have attained 100 per cent transition to Form One for sub-counties that had recorded high numbers.
He said his office was also following up on students who sat KCPE in 2018 but opted to join technical institutions.
