A student from Milo, Webuye West Constituency, is at risk of losing her place in form one this year after she failed to raise the necessary fees.

Diana Nabwile Soita, scored 370 marks in last year’s KCPE examinations and was selected to join Cardinal Otunga Girls in Bungoma.

However, her family is unable to raise the money to further their daughter’s education as they lack any proper income.

Diana’s mother, Hellen Nafuna, said the family was very poor and had tried all avenues to raise fees for their first born daughter.

Nafuna said that they were hoping that through giving their daughter proper education it would be one way of changing the family’s fortunes.

She said that her and her husband do not have proper jobs and always go out to look for manual jobs in order to get some money to feed their children.

“My husband and I do not have jobs and we have to look for jobs around in order to get something to feed our family. We are unable to raise money to enable our daughter to further her education,” she said.

A look at the homestead paints a grim picture as they live in one grass thatched house with their children.

The family is appealing to well-wishers to help support her daughter further her studies and also help her younger siblings who are also in school.

It is still not clear how she missed on the Bungoma County Scholarships scheme that was launched last week where 360 students benefitted from the program worth Sh 40 million.
