Police in Eldoret hunting down robbers who killed a watchman before trying to break into the strong rooms in Kenya Industrial Area in Eldoret on Thursday night. According to Eldoret West OCPD Zachariah Bittok, Tobias Anyango, a security guard with JDS Private Security Company firm, was reportedly killed by the thugs after they realised he was alone in the compound.

Bittok said after they failed to access the strong room, the thieves dismantled and stole CCTV cameras and TV sets worth Sh70,000. He said they have dispatched a team of police detectives to hunt down the suspects. He promised to bring them to book.

“We are following up on crucial information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects who are on the police most wanted list and are armed and dangerous,” he said. The officers found Anyango's mutilated body a few metres from the strong room.

The police chief said the deceased had deep cuts on his head. The body was taken to Moi Teaching and Refereral Hospital. Meanwhile, the police arrested two young men suspected of stealing a vehicle bonnet from the compound of a businessman at Huruma estate, on the outskirts of Eldoret town along the Eldoret-Webuye highway.
