Top national and extra county schools in Mt Kenya region have produced quality grades in the just released Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination results.

The surprise of the year from the region was Mioro Secondary School in Mathioya, Murang’a County, which produced the most improved student nationally.

Kamau Josephat Mwangi with an A- of 77 points hogged the national headlines and was cited by Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed alongside five others for remarkable improvement in the four years between their KCPE and KCSE exams.

Mwangi topped the mixed day school in the home village of former Cabinet minister Joseph Kamotho after joining the school with 278 marks in KCPE.

A tabulation of the results showed that top national schools such as Alliance High, Alliance Girls, Mang’u and Mary Hill topped the region with the number of As.
