Kivutha Kibwana: Don’t force me to back Kalonzo

Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has said he will not be forced to support Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka as the Ukambani kingpin and a 2022 presidential contender.

Kibwana said he is not out to cause a rift in Ukambani but only concerned about the welfare of Makueni people.

“I can’t wish to be among those out to divide Kambas, but I don’t want anybody to coerce me to support him,” he said during a Jamhuri Day rally at Nziu, Makueni.

The governor said he will only support ideologies that spur development.

“Some politicians led by Kitui Senator Enoc Wambua and Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi say I must support Kalonzo. That is 1980s politics. We will support what is benefiting our Kamba people and Kenya at large,” Kibwana said.

“As we near 2022 we will meet our people and ask them what they want.”

The governor added that he will not tolerate foul language from Wiper MPs.

The governor has been hailed for his development record for commissioning a number of projects. He told off those politicizing the projects, saying he is out to transform the county residents’ lives.

Kibwana recently said he has less than 44 months to his exit as a governor. He is yet to declare his interest in the presidency.

But, he says Kalonzo has done nothing tangible for the Kamba community in his 25 years in leadership.

The Jamhuri Day function was attended by Makueni MP Daniel Maanzo who refused to comment on the matter.
