Five reasons that prove Raila Odinga has run out of tricks

For the longest time, many Kenyans including myself have been convinced that Raila Odinga's presidency could be the solution to the challenges we face as Kenyans- social, political and economic.

This has been due to the make-believe tactics used by NASA leader Raila Odinga that have portrayed him as a revolutionary, liberator and true leader. Political events of recent years and this year portray him as otherwise.

First, he called for changes to the electoral body- commissioners, which were made but still didn't exude confidence in the same. He protests August 8th Presidential election results, the court annuls the results and orders a repeat presidential poll. Odinga boycotts this poll- he cited lack of confidence in the referee (the Independent Electoral & Boundaries Commission).

A few months later, Odinga wants to be sworn in based on the results of the 8/8/2017 presidential election. He went ahead to carefully swear himself as the "People's President," a move the Attorney General had warned that it bordered treason and that the punitive measure is death.

Tails went on despite this warning- however, he took the "oath" without his running mate, Wiper leader, Kalonzo Musyoka who was conspicuously missing at Uhuru Park.

He tells the public members attending that Steve would be sworn in at a later date! Hogwash. Looking at the journey to his purported swearing in fete, it's evident that Odinga has ran out of ideas and is inadequate to run this nation;

1. Organization

The event was poorly organized. You can imagine presidential Public Address being set up one hour to the event notwithstanding the seriousness/weight of the fete! No foreign dignitaries were visibly present at the park.

Basically, the event lacked pomp and color. It seemed to have been done fearfully and hurriedly like fornication. Presidential materials put together their events timely, thoroughly...they invite their broad network to witness landmark events of their political life.

2. Co-principals

Notably, the other NASA principals were absent from the event. These are; Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi and Bungoma Senator, Moses Masika Wetangula.

How could the people who have been driving such an agenda absent themselves on the material day- the culmination of the agenda.

Odinga told the public members attending that Musyoka would be sworn in at a later date and that Mudavadi and Wetangula were not able to attend! That It's pure PR and a fat lie.

The principals must have failed to agree on various parts of the swearing-in affair. How will he rule if he can't convince his clique who are supposed to help him govern? Is it that they no longer believe in him or they are in bed with the government?

3. Business as usual

According to the anticipation of many Kenyans, the city would be dull- with little activity and closed businesses for fear of the effects of confrontation between the NASA supporters and law enforcers.

Surprisingly, it was business as usual in the city. People went on their daily businesses/errands as if no political event was taking place. This tells you that Odinga's mark has started fading. An enigma like himself ought to have brought the capital to a standstill. Unfortunately, that vigor is gone.

4. No blueprint- which way do we go after this?

The expectation of many Kenyans was that the "People's President" would lay and outline a blueprint for the nation or his supporters rather. To their disappointment, no sooner had Odinga lifted the green Bible than he left.

This left many confused and not convinced that Odinga has any plan that could benefit Kenyans. To many, he's advancing his political career whilst stepping on their heads. It's visionary of any leader to outline a bold action plan to the followers so that they know where the leader wants to take them.

5. Empty populist

Fairly speaking, Odinga seems to have played his part in shaping the future of this country. It's time for him to exit the stage honorably and hand over the mantle to younger, creative, dynamic, vigorous and visionary Kenyans in his party.

Despite the fact that he stands for the common good and for the common mwananchi, he seems to lack the way how to achieve that.

His political strategies have failed to earn him the presidency and his street tendencies have been continuously ignored by the targets.

Conclusion

To sum it up, it's time to hang the boots for Odinga. He can only do so much. It's time to groom and hand over the spirit of liberation to someone else. You can't use the same thinking process and expect a different outcome!
