When it comes to indiscipline on the road, this NTSA car leads by example

Following the deaths of over 70 people in 72 hours, the National Transport and Safety Authority is on the spot over increased cases of road accidents.

On Monday, 11th December 2017, at least 19 people died along the Kitale – Webuye Road at Kamukuywa Bridge after a matatu rammed into a tractor moving Sugar Cane.

Another 35 lost their lives on Tuesday in a road accident at Sachangwan along Nakuru- Eldoret Highway.

The accident involved a Modern Coast bus and 13 other vehicles.

According to reports, a truck driver being chased by the NTSA lost control and hit oncoming vehicles including a Modern Coast bus, four Nissan matatus, a truck and other private vehicles.

This means that road accidents have claimed over 70 lives in 3 days, raising questions over whether the safety authority is doing anything to quell these accidents. 

Despite the rising cases of road carnage this festive season, passenger service vehicles in a bid to capitalise on the huge numbers of travelers have opted to throw caution to the wind, endangering the lives of commuters by driving carelessly.

A spot check by The Standard team saw PSV's overlapping, driving on the roads' shoulders and carelessly overtaking seem to be the order.

NTSA too seems not to be left out as they have also joined the bandwagon as this one seen driving along Eldoret's Uganda Road.
