A letter to Raila Odinga

Dear Baba,

I am a Nasa supporter. That said, I would like to congratulate you for all your efforts in ensuring we have a better Kenya. Indeed, were it not for you, today's Jamhuri would not have been the way it is right now. All freedoms we enjoy including freedom of speech and association are your ripe fruits which even the toothless can munch.

Your quest for democracy surely bore fruits. Right from dictatorship to one party state and now multipartism. We cannot exhaust all the accolades before the next president is declared. For that reason, kindly allow me to leave that slate to historians so I can drive my message home.

Baba, I wish to remind you that you have outlived your nine political lives of a democratic cat. Lest you forget Orengo, your dear friend of democratic yonder. The same comrade who ultimately participated in creating your tail end of politics. That you should retire honourably is no better than you boycotting elections.

Little did we know about your much anticipated major announcement at Uhuru park. Jatelo, it hit some of us like the mother of all surprises. Your major announcement was a solvent to your Supreme Court victory. I wish I was your advisor. Now that I am not, let me remind you one thing.

A revolution can never be successful especially in the year of the Lord 2017-2018. There can never be a revolution of hungry people. Hunger will take the forefront in fighting for the status quo; it will humble the rebels. On the way to Canaan, Israelites thought about the pumpkins they left back in their master's farm. They almost went back but fortunately for them, they had crossed the sea.

A revolution is not healthy for a country where corruption and greed is a culture. Money shall divide your army and you shall be defeated. But we shall live to fight another day. For now, accept and move on. Mentor Ongili and Otiende and let your dream prosper in them. You and the other principals should consider forming a political veterans community and register it so that going forward, it can guide this nation holistically.

Let this country move ahead. Hang your boots. The rest we shall sort out tukiendanga. Peace.
