Police in Bondo shot dead two people and injured three others as they battled anti-IEBC demonstrators in the town.
Multiple police sources and eyewitnesses said the two teenagers were shot in the head and abdomen when they allegedly tried to confront police officers chasing them out of town.
Medical officials at the Bondo Sub County hospital said they had received two bodies of unidentified young men. They confirmed three suffered gunshot wounds and bled heavily.
Eyewitnesses said the two young men were among a large group of protestors who were marching along the main Bondo-Usenge road when they met some resistance from another group which thought they were looters.
"As they ran back towards Bondo town, they met police men who responded with tear gas and bullets," said an eye witnesses.
Bondo OCPD Paul Kiarie could not confirm or deny the reports, saying he would speak to the media later. "We are still in operation. We will discuss later," he said when reached on phone.
Bondo MP, Gideon Ochanda condemned the killings, saying the police should exercise restraint as they disperse the demonstrators.
The riots also rocked Kisumu, Siaya, Ugunja, Homa Bay and Migori.
