Embattled Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO Ezra Chiloba has come out clearly insisting that the elections were free and fair.
During an exclusive interview on Citizen TV, Chiloba said that he is very innocent and his output was the best.
'Deep down my heart, Kenyans are convinced that we conducted far much better elections than any other that has been conducted in the country. Many Kenyans have contacted me and really appreciate the good elections we had on August 8. We just needed to improve our electoral processes to have much better elections in accordance with the court demands,' says Chiloba.
In defence to the transactions that were done using the chairman's name, he said that the transactions were done during sending of results to National Tallying Centre. They, therefore, had to verify and process the results.
He added that the account was active from 31st July to 13th August and that during that period there were several trials made to confirm the account works properly, thus amounting to more than 9000 logins.
Chiloba has acknowledged that the transmission of results had challenges and that they have learnt from that, adding that some IEBC officers did not comply with the rules and regulations.
He also said that Al Ghurair is the only option they have in terms of printing ballot papers, a move that the National Super Alliance are against.
Chiloba said that NASA has the right and freedom to demonstrate.
He, however, assured Kenyans that the upcoming presidential elections will be free, fair and credible in accordance with the court orders and he will not give up in the journey of democratisation.
