Ezra Chiloba: I have not thought of resigning

Nairobi, Kenya: Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO Ezra Chiloba remains adamant that he will not resign.

In an interview with KTN News Chiloba stated that he has responsibility to oversee the preparation of forthcoming presidential poll.

Chiloba pointed out that the Supreme Court ruling pointed out at a systemic failed which dates back to several years and the commission has been working towards streamlining operations at the election body. He revealed that based on Supreme Court ruling they will have change the way results are transmitted during October 26 election.

Says Al Ghurair will still print the the ballot papers as the UNDP option was still in discussion but welcomes move by UN to provide experts to oversee the printing process as this will bolster confidence in the process.

Chiloba also stated that the commission is investigating the source of leaked documents and those found culpable will face the law.

The Opposition has vowed to hold protests to force Ezra Chiloba and other top officials to resign for allegedly bungling the August vote. The National Super Alliance (NASA) has also accused the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of failing to adequately address the concerns it had raised as 'irreducible minimum', protesting that the commission was proceeding with business as usual without any accountability.

NASA has also maintained that they will not attend a consultative meeting with the commission, accusing the poll agency of unilaterally making decisions.
