The Press should stop preying on the gullibility of Kenyans by spinning a narrative of rigging. It was established through court hearing that there was no material manipulation of vote tallying and that the mistakes were attributable to human error and if anything, the net gain was to Raila. Chebukati’s biggest headache is Chiloba, a man who seems to enjoy absolute State House patronage. The IEBC chairman should have jettisoned the baby-faced boy the moment he arrived at Anniversary Towers from his law firm. Now he is in dilemma with no clue what to do with Chiloba, who is being egged on by a section of compromised commissioners. Sifu Msafiri
Raila cannot be trusted. He tried to lock out UhuRuto through the Hague-based court but was defeated. His aim was to get into Government through the back door but it didn’t work out. In 2013, he lamented that his victory had been stolen but this claim was trashed by the no-nonsense Supreme Court. Again in 2017, he has gained the court’s sympathy wishing there will be a caretaker Government but as things are, that is wishful thinking. Now he should wait for the repeat election so that he can show us his true worth. Alex Smith
For Chebukati to remind the employees of their obligations is a futile action because this is a country where patronage and corruption dictate policy direction. Patriotism is never a variable in any policy decision. Now with State House patronizing the employees and cash to splurge being unlimited, it is not hard to see a repeat performance by the employees. The only viable option for Chebukati is to fire the offending employees. Carol Smith
