Kenyans have expressed mixed reactions following the detainment of Maina Kiai, a Kenya Human Rights Commission board member as he sought to travel out of the country.

Mr Kiai on Sunday morning faced a similar experience as that of IEBC commissioner Dr Roselyn Akombe as he was trying to leave the country through JKIA.

Mr Kiai is said to have been held for a while before he could leave the country for Prague, the capital of Czech Republic.

A number of Kenyans expressing disappointment on the arrests on social media say it was needless for the immigration officers to demand for travel clearance from Mr Kiai yet he is not a state officer.

Some have hilariously linked the delayed travel to a possibility that they could soon be required to have clearance for them to travel upcountry.

Mr Kiai was allowed to leave on the intervention of of Director of Immigration Services Maj-Gen Gordon Kihalangwa.
