The president elect Uhuru Kenyatta has extended his sincere gratitude to Kenyans for re-electing him for another 5 years term as the head of state.
Speaking in Bomas of Kenya a few minutes after being announced the winner by IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati, Mr. Kenyatta congratulated those who had won and lost in the recent elections.
He added that it was time to unite Kenyans and maintain the sovereignty of the state rather than maintaining political divisions. Kenyatta also lauded Kenyans for exercising peace during the election and urged them to maintain the same.
“We all are citizens of one republic. Politicians come and go. Let us move forward together. We can not fight over an election. Your neighbor will always be your neighbor. Elections will come and go but Kenya will always be here, “said Uhuru Kenyatta while addressing the public at Bomas of Kenya.
Mr. Uhuru called upon the opposition to work hand in hand with him towards ensuring the welfare of the people of Kenya and create a prosperous, secure and a stable nation.
“Together we will create a prosperous, secure and stable nation, “said Uhuru
The head of state extended a hand of friendship to Raila Odinga and his supporters and lauded those who won positions on NASA’s ticket.
“In any competition there will be winners and losers. All Kenyans are winners. To my brother Raila Odinga, I extend a hand of friendship. I am ready to listen to ideas and manipulate them for the development of this country” said the president elect.
To Kenyans, he solemnly promised that his government will serve equally those who voted and those who did not vote him in.
“We will serve all equally without bias, favor, serving all Kenyans is their right” Uhuru assured citizens
Concluding his remarks, the president elect thanked the people for giving him and his administration another opportunity. He assured citizens that he will do anything in his power to leave Kenya much better than he found it.
