Kalonzo accuses Jubilee of telling lies

Wiper leader and opposition coalition co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka yesterday took his campaign to Ukambani, where he rallied residents to vote for the National Super Alliance.

Mr Kalonzo, the NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga's running mate, urged residents not to be 'deceived' by the Jubilee administration, which he accused of promising what it cannot deliver.

"The Jubilee government lied even to primary school pupils. Our government will ensure equality and fairness to every Kenyan," he said.

Servant leadership

The Wiper leader promised 'servant leadership' and to lower the high cost of living. "The NASA government will be lowering the cost of living and we will strive to ensure the country's economy is reinstated," he said.

Kalonzo's tour, however, met hostility over his endorsement of certain candidates.

At Mukuyuni market in Makueni, Kalonzo was shouted down when he tried to endorse Joshua Kimilu as his preferred candidate for Kaiti Constituency.

Kalonzo did not mention Muungano Party and Peoples' Trust Party (PTP) when he named the parties that make up the NASA coalition, raising more protests from the crowd. Some people raised the posters of the PTP candidate and shouted his name.

"NASA is made up of five parties which include Wiper, Orange

Democratic Movement (ODM), Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM), Forum for the Restoration of Democracy (FORD-Kenya), and Amani Coalition", said Kalonzo.

Kalonzo had to cut short his speech to calm the crowd that seemed to support the PTP candidate, Joseph Kioko.

"Vote whoever you want but you must know that when NASA wins the coming elections we need to have a backup in Parliament by having Wiper party MPs," said Kalonzo. [Steve Nzioka]
