Jubiulee Party wont take part in presidential ballots printing tender discussions

Jubilee Party has pulled out of involvement in the ballots tender awarding row.

Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju has said that if the other parties in the capacity of presidential candidates wanted to be involved in the ballots printing tender warding, it will be up to them as they, Jubilee are not in the game.

“If NASA or the other presidential candidates want to be involved in the procurement process, it is up to them. We are out of that game,” said Tuju.

Mr Tuju, National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale, Senator Kithure Kindiki and Kipchumba Murkomen represented the head of state as they appeared before IEBC at Hilton Hotel in Nairobi.

Senator Kindiki said as a party, Jubilee was set to appeal a court decision that quashed the award of the ballots printing tender to Al Guhrair nullifying the printing of presidential ballots.

“We find it completely inappropriate for participants in an elections to sit and discuss who gets the tender. We cannot sit here and discuss who will get the tender,” said Senator Kindiki.

He said this would amount to conflict of interest.

Mr Duale said the constitution provides that the electoral commission cannot be directed by anybody or any institution insisting that they, Jubilee, had no interest in ballots printing but were looking forward to have elections on August 8.

Siaya Senator James Orengo who represented NASA's Raila Odinga asked the leaders not to condemn anyone for having gone to court on the matter.

IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati said equally the commission deserved not to be condemned.

Third Way Alliance's Ekuru Aukot, Abduba Dida were at the meeting with the other candidates sending representatives to the discussion.
