EXCLUSIVE: Raila Conspiracy book author gives account of ordeal with the police and nightmares his spouce undergoes

The controversial author of a book titled The Raila Conspiracy, Newton Ochieng’ Ong’ele known by many as Babior resurfaced on Friday and has spoken on ensues of his disappearance on a day he was to launch the book at KICC.

Babior claims that he had been kidnapped and beaten up by unknown people expressing gratitude to a Good Samaritan who he says picked him up and took him to Guru Nanak Hospital where he was treated and discharged on Thursday.

Today, Monday 10, Babior appeared on Radio Maisha for an interview during which he said he is considering fleeing the country in fear of his life as there were strangers trailing him and suspects ill motive.

He says that some unknown people looking like police were always at his house to question his spouse and some were ever trailing him wherever he goes.

“Some busybodies looking like police officers are ever at my house interrogating my spouse. I did not even sleep in my house last night as there are people following me everywhere I go,” said the controversial writer.

After being discharged from the facility last week, he says that some very tall men knocked at his door, and when he opened they took him to Pangani Police station but did not tell him why he had been handcuffed as one on a serious crime.

On that night, Babior claims having been transferred to Ruaraka and two other stations he could not identify over what the officers told him was his having blackmail them.

“So far I have only been told that I was trying to blackmail the police,” he said.

Babior says that he was moved to the Director of Criminal Investigations Office and describes the area DCIO and the Ruaraka OCPD as the best police officer he has ever met but had on the contrary failed to let him know why he was being taken through such probing.

He has sold more than 2500 copies of the book he authored and still has 5000 copies but dismisses accusations of being a Raila Odinga sycophant as vague saying his book was based on his thought and he had even pointed out the mistakes the ODM party leader made when prime minister.

Nairobi County Police Commander Japhet Koome last week said the police had not arrested the author but had instead found him and were waiting for the family members to collect him from them.

“Since the family had complained that they did not know where he is, we searched for him and found him. He will be handed over to the family when they come,” Mr Koome was quoted by a local daily on Friday.

NASA coalition presidential candidate Raila Odinga was among dignitaries that were expected to attend the book launch on June 27 at KICC the day Mr Babior disappeared until when police found him at a house in Parklands, Nairobi.
