Union demands recruitment of substantive exams agency boss
A teacher's union has called for the immediate recruitment of a substantive chief executive officer for the examinations council.
Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) on Thursday said the continued delay in the appointment of a substantive Kenya National Examinations Council secretary would compromise the credibility of national tests. In a letter to Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i, Knut Secretary General Wilson Sossion raised concerns over the delayed recruitment.
"We hereby demand you comply with the law and ensure a substantive chief officer is appointed for efficient management of Knec programmes," said Mr Sossion.
The Knut boss said since the disbandment of the previous office team, the ministry had to set in motion the process of appointing a new council secretary.
