The compensation of Integrated IDPs in Kisii and Nyamira counties may be considered as a noble move by President Uhuru Kenyatta since it was about time these PEV victims get assistance from the government.
However, political analysts have argued that the president might have cost himself votes, saying that the compensation was a move "too little too late".
It has been 10 years since these Kenyans were displaced, leaving behind their belongings and livelihoods, with the hope that one day they might return to their homes or receive cash thay would be able to cover for their lost and damaged property.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has now come under strong criticism, also arousing a number of questions following their Kisii - Nyamira escapades.
One thing that hurts Kenyan government is the inheritance of past regimes' problems. The Jubilee government may have the coalition government to blame if the assumed Kisii swing vote actually turns into a clean sweep by NASA.
The compensation of these integrated IDPs 2 months to elections, with them having suffered for the last 10 years may annoy Kisii residents instead of luring them to vote for Jubilee.
According to political analysts, President Kenyatta rather have avoided Kisii and Nyamira counties, simply because the people from these two communities have over the years felt ignored/ neglected by the Jubilee government - Late compensation of IDPs and inclusivity in government sighted as Key issues.
Could the president have thought that he made a wise move yet it was a wrong one? Could the Kisii - Nyamira vote hunt have cost him the +1 he requires to get over the finish line come August?
You be the judge.
