Yet another terror attack! Several feared dead

There has been a reported car bomb explosion in Kabul, Afghanistan close to the German embassy and the presidential palace, on Wednesday morning killing at least 80 people while hundreds injured.

The authorities in the country have said that the attack is believed to have been caused by a suicide car bombing.

They also said that the explosion was so heavy that more than 30 vehicles were damaged at the scene of the attack.

“We still don’t know at this moment what was the target of the attack, but most of the casualties are civilians,” said the Interior Ministry spokesperson ,Najib Danish

Up to this time, no terrorism group has claimed the attack however; both the Taliban and the Islamic State group have staged extensive attacks in Kabul in the past.

In response to this the US Embassy in Kabul issued a report confirming the attack, informing the US citizens in Kabul to avoid travelling to the area.

The embassy, as a precaution, cancelled all appointments for routine American Citizen Services on the afternoon of May 31, 2017.

In the report, the embassy states that traveling to all areas of Afghanistan remains unsafe due to ongoing risk of kidnapping, hostage taking, military combat operations, landmines.

It also identifies banditry, armed rivalry between political and tribal groups, militant attacks, direct and indirect fire, suicide bombings and insurgent attacks including attacks using vehicle-borne or other improvised explosive devices.
