How Bodaboda Operators Back the Government, Clergy in Fostering Peace

 For the first time, Elgeyo Marakwet security team, Clergy, the council of elders together with bodaboda operators today conducted a peaceful convoy across the vast county ahead of the August Polls.

The convoy flagged off in the four sub-counties is headed to grassroots to convey peace messages.

Speaking in Iten town this morning, Keiyo North sub-county, Deputy County Commissioner John Korir, has urged political seat candidates to do peaceful campaigns scheduled to kick off this coming Sunday.

The highly attended peace ride begun 10: 00 am in Chesoi-Marakwet East, Kapsowar-Marakwet West, Iten-Keiyo North, and Chepkorio- Keiyo South sub-counties.

Korir warned the political candidates to keep off hate speech and embrace peace. He said that the county is set for peaceful elections.

The county clergy team chaired by Bishop Haron Kwambai, called upon the youth to avoid political influence that might tempt them to involve in violence.

Bishop Kwambai added that good leadership comes when peace prevails and embraced by every citizen.

Despite echoing the sentiments from the Bishop Kwambai, Keiyo North sub-county chair to the security committee, Pastor David Bett, said that the input from the security stakeholders will yield the results if all the county residents and all Kenyan Citizens embrace peace.

He said peace begins with every individual and shunning ethnic division will be a plus towards unity not only in Elgeyo Marakwet but also in Kenya as a whole.
