Kiambu serial rapists who have disguising as women were on Saturday evening arrested by the police and property of unknown value recovered from the four after the police raided their hideout.
The gang that has left the residents of Kiambu, Muchatha,Karuri and banana scared on Thursday night attacked Joseph muguna injuring him forcing the police to launch a manhunt on them.
According to Muguna the gang attacked him at his home forcing him to give out his day’s earning. They took his wallet and the money he had and in the process they injured him.
Confirming the incident Karuri OCPD Wilberforce Sicharina that they have enough evidence to implicated the four led by Laban Wekesa with theft and rape cases in Muchatha area.According to him Wekesa’s phone and the investigations they carried clearly showed that he was a culprit.
In order to draw little attention, the police say that Wekesa and his friend wore unusual disguise. They wore women’s clothes so as to fool the residents that they were harmless because people don’t associate women with violence.
“The have been using this trick of wearing women clothes because they know that when somebody is on his way home and he sees a woman in front of him he won’t feel insecure. So they take that opportunity to rob and rape unsuspecting passersby,” said Karuri.
Meanwhile, the police said that the arrest of these suspects has been hampered by the reluctance of residents and victims of these suspect to come forward and testify for fear of reprisal attacks. The police have urged the residents to come out without fear and report those criminals terrorising the residents because there is now witness protection.
