King’ong’o G.K. prison warder found dead a few away from the facility

A prison warder was on Wednesday morning found dead a few meters from King’ong’o G.K. prison in Nyeri.



The body of the slain prison warder whose identity was not revealed was found with several stabs all over the body.The body was discovered by the area residents who informed the police about the incident.



Confirming the incident the officer in charge of King’ong’o prison Patrick Isaboke said that when he visited the scene, he found the deceased with wounds on his neck showing that the officer could have been stabbed to death. He also confirmed that the deceased was an officer at the facility.



According to his the details of the death have not been established. He further said that the police need to be given time to carry out their investigations into the death.



“Per now we cannot tell the motive behind this death but from preliminary investigations, it shows that the deceased was murdered. We have launched an investigation to establish the real cause of the death," said Isaboke.



The body of the deceased was moved to the Nyeri Referral Hospital by the police for a post-mortem.


 This comes barely two months after another prison warder was shot dead by a colleague at Embu prison. Mohamed Said Omar, 34, a Muslim cleric was killed in a hail of bullets while heading to mosque for morning prayers while Kennedy Muriithi Njagi, 28, sustained fractures on both legs from three bullets shot. The suspect Wario Fora Boru, 36, was guarding near the administration block together with Muriithi before turning on them with his gun.
