President Uhuru’s son from Kisumu narrates on how he met his father for the first time

 
Daniel Owira, a 24-year-old student at Multimedia University reveals how he met his father for the first time in 2013.

According to him, it was not an easy task meeting the President because from the word go, there were those who were fighting to take up the chance that would later give him an opportunity to meet the president.

 Owira hints that it was through the effort of Clifford Ouma who was his drama director that gave him a lifeline and protected him from the pressure of the big boys who were ready to snatch the opportunity from him.

“I would have yielded to pressure from the older students who were breathing fire on me were it not for Director Clifford Ouma. I laud Mr. Ouma for standing with me,” said Owira.

He said that being a lead actor helped him meet the president. Owira said that after presenting a narrative titled Otongolo Time during the 2013 annual Kenya Schools, Colleges and Universities Drama Festivals Winner concert at State House Mombasa, Uhuru adopted him and started paying for his education.

The second year Multi-Media University student said after presenting ‘Otongolo Time’ in Mombasa, the judges were not impressed with him despite a good number of the audience declaring him the winner.

Owira revealed how he cried for failing to appear on the best three list. His hopes were revived when an official scheduled him (Owira) and his troupe to perform at State House.

Upon reaching state House, he said he did his best and to his shock, the President called him and told him he would like to meet him in Nairobi. State House director of communication Dennis Itumbi then facilitated their meeting two days later.
