Lionel Messi’s goal was so good, that even Real Madrid fans celebrated

Lionel Messi scored his 49^th and 50^th goals of the season in all competitions last night after he guided Barcelona to a prestigious 3-2 victory of over bitter rivals Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeau, in the global phenomenon dubbed ‘El Clasico.’ The brace saw the Barcelona legend reach 500 goals for Barcelona.

As it has been in the recent past, the El Clasico has become more than a match, with millions watching from different countries all over the world. In just a single match, several aspects of these two teams get tested and judged, including the might of their two outstanding players, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

The El Clasico is usually a match where you can never miss goals and in line with that, last night Barcelona went home bragging after Messi single-handedly demolished Real Madrid’s defence. I am a Real Madrid fan but can confidently say that after last night, Leo Messi has proven to Cristiano Ronaldo that goals only matter when they win you matches.

Messi’s two goals were superbly struck, sending the Santiago Bernabeu into delirium. The win sees Barcelona go on top of the La Liga standings with 75 points after 33 games played, being trailed closely by Real Madrid who have 75 points with a game in hand. Atletico Madrid and Sevilla make up the top four with 68 and 65 points respectively.
