If it is a question concerning the wealth of the top people in government, there is no need to ask William Kabogo as it is now clear where he gets his money from. Governor Kabogo, being a governor of course is a very wealthy man and has in the past received criticism over where he gets his money.
In an interview with a local TV station a day ago, Governor Kabogo was not shy to open up about his money sources, even going further and referring to himself as an ‘International Business man’. When asked what his source of funding was, the Kiambu Governor said, “I work, I’m a business man, I build houses and sell. I have done that for many years, I am an International businessman.”
Kabogo clarified that he deals in houses, importation of commodities and also clearing and forwarding.
Governor Kabogo, who is facing strong competition from Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu on his gubernatorial position, remains adamant that he will not lose to Waititu. He also dismissed the statistics given by opinion polls saying that they were fake.
By revealing that he owns a chain of businesses and that Ferdinand Waititu is way behind in terms of beating him to the governor’s position, it is a clear indication that this electioneering period is set to see top officials dish out money in an attempt to lure voters. Also, it might have been a strategy for Kabogo so that he looks ‘clean’ in Kenyans’ eyes.
Time will tell.
