Raila Odinga has lauded the late Nderitu Gachagua as a fierce defender of devolution.
Speaking during his burial ceremony in Nyeri, the former prime minister posthumously hailed Gachagua's efforts together with Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana for their no-nonsense approaches in dealing with the exorbitant lifestyles of members of county assembly and other members of the executive in their respective counties.
"Gachagua was never intimidated as he was ready to be impeached rather than approve budgets that would cater for the plush lifestyles of MCAs' in his county. I praise him for that," said Raila.
Furthermore, the opposition chief added that devolution has been faced with many challenges owing to the fact that this is the pioneer devolved Government but said that with the correct leadership, the country will move forward.
