Human Rights activist Boniface Mwangi has alleged that the Government is aware of who is the cause of the insecurity in witnessed in Laikipia County recently.

Pastoralists from Baringo, Isiolo, Laikipia and Samburu counties have been reportedly invading private properties in search of food and water for their animals as a result of the toll taken by drought throughout the country.

In Laikipia, Sosian Ranch Director Tristan Voorspuy was found dead at his expansive farm Sunday evening, succumbing to gunshot wounds afflicted by invading herders.

Following the attack in a message posted on his Twitter account, Boniface Mwangi claimed that politicians are to be blamed for the attacks which have unsettled security in Laikipia.

"Government knows who is behind the violence in Laikipia, its land grabbing violence by politicians to force ranch owners to flee/sell cheaply", he said.

East Africa Wildlife Society chairman,Julius Kamau in a telephone interview condemned these atttacks saying that they were uncalled for and asked the herders to desist from their heinous acts.

He also said that the attacks might have risen from political tension caused by incoming General Election.

"Perhaps the only issue in Laikipia is not drought. Politics may also be at play,"he said

Meanwhile Sosian area Chief,Francis Narumbe denied claims that herders tried to shoot down a police chopper carrying Inspector General Boinnet, the latter also confirming that he was not involved in the incident."I have not received any reports that such an incident happened
