Kakamega County Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has maintained that he will defend his seat in Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) under NASA in forthcoming General Election slated for August 8th this year.

Speaking at Ogallo trading center yesterday evening, Governor Oparanya said that he had no apparent reason to defend his seat in a different party.

"I will defend my sit in ODM party under NASA," he said amid cheers from his supporters.

He also said that Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) had a target of registering a total number of 27, 000 new registered voters but the current data in IEBC show only 6000 voters have been registered in Matungu.

He challenged his supporters to turn out in large numbers before the exercise hits deadline today. He further said that he received a massive support of 70% of votes from Matungu constituency in previous General elections and urged them to vote him in again.

"I received a massive support of 70% in 2013 elections and I urge you to support me again" noted Governor Oparanya.

He challenged voters in Matungu constituency to support ODM candidates on MCA sit as ODM only garnered one seat of MCA in the entire Kakamega County. Governor Oparanya was touring Matungu constituency to rally voters to register in an exercise that comes to an end today.
