Mr. President

Dear Mr. President, a number of weeks have now passed since the lecturers went on strike and you have articulated nothing about it or maybe we should also be afraid if we push too much you will say “Sasa munataka nifanye nini jameni,” now that you have constant pressure from every crook of the country.

Time, shopping, rent and pocket money now have had one thing in common in the past weeks: wasted! Not to forget the indulgence of sexual activities that not even a month has passed, than they have uprooted a new virus called Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), so who knows what next they could be capable of creating during this free time?

I remember almost five years ago, all you used to say was “Serikali ya vijana” for your campaign and us, 50+1% trusted on your word to give you our votes, we believed you were the perfect candidate for the ‘Digital generation’ and now all you are doing is trying to prove us wrong.

How do you expect your government to be ‘ A youthful Government’ yet you can’t cater for their teachers and lecturers? I really don’t know about your thoughts but for me, all I know is that hay is made while the sun still shines and believe me if this is done, you will hardly hear of corrupt, selfish and uneducated leaders who cannot even construct a proper Swahili sentence in our country.

“These people who are disturbing us with drugs, I want to tell them that their days are over, it’s just the beginning.” This was a good speech in Likoni but as long as students are on the loose, this is the only shot they have got to make themselves busy-drug abuse and trafficking.

All we are asking is not much; you can postpone the railway and laptop projects and concentrate on paying our lecturers and doctors. You still have another term ahead; you can implement your objectives then. Why fix something that isn’t broken?
