Someone said that politics is the science that runs a community. In our towns, rural, farms and offices political register is the talk of the day to even the most unconcerned individuals in our country.
At least they have heard rumours that this is an election year. In Kenya, we have we voters and the aspirants of various political seats: MCA, Mp, Governor, Senator and the president.
I am not a sadist but I feel for some of these aspirants who especially have the right, the compact majority but no ‘sight’.
Every election year there are the so-called Returning Officers (ROs) in every region of our country. The ROs are just appointed to oversee the election process.
My plea for them this year is that they should remain impartial. Some aspirants and voters in the past have been left disillusioned because they were shortchanged with someone else’s name in the ROs announcements.
In fact, some aspirants have vowed never to go back into politics in the name ‘it’s a dirty game’ please sanitize the process this time round.
Other aspirants too, due to immense shock have succumbed to heart attack, blood pressure and depression please spare them this year.
Am not discrediting that we don’t have perfect ROs but a majority of them are easily corrupted.
For the four years, I doubt whether these rogue ROs have been surviving on this money. Remember the sage; ‘Easy come easy go.’
Let democracy not only reign in our voting but also in your release of the results form MCA level to senior most level.
Don’t allow a politician to survive the wrath of the people on the ballot simply because he is your crony, your person, your development partner etc.
