Dating site that caters exclusively to Trump fans

If you're a Trump supporter looking for a romantic partner that shares your political views there's no better place to find them than 'Trump Singles', an online dating site catering exclusively to fans of the U.S. president-elect.

According to a Crazy Monday source in the US, 'Trump Singles' was founded by David Goss, a Trump supporter from California. He apparently came up with the idea for the site after noticing people who support Trump were always discriminated upon or disliked.

He told local press that his Republican friends were having a tough time on dates whenever politics came up, and particularly when talking about Donald Trump. So he decided that single fans of The Donald needed a safe space where they didn't have to compromise on their views.

The offbeat dating site is not exactly new, having been launched on June 6, 2016, but it has been growing in popularity ever since Donald Trump won the presidential election. Goss says that he never imagined it would grow to its current level, claiming that he only envisioned it as a cool place for his Trump-supporting friends to mingle.

So you could say he was shocked to find that 6,000 people had registered on the first day. Even so, 35-year-old Goss didn't see 'Trump Singles' going anywhere after November 8, as all the polls had Hilary Clinton as a clear winner of the presidential election, but things didn't go according to plan. As we all know, the Republican nominee came back strong, won the race, and now Trump Singles has over 24,000 paying members and is growing fast.

"At first I was concerned that people would think this was a parody site," Gross told the New York Post. "But people have told me that they're so happy they can finally go on dates without worrying about political differences.”It's been something that we weren't expecting, we're glad to have a service that is actually helping people."

"If people are being demonised for their views and having a hard time on their dates, we wanted to take that whole part of it out," he added. "Sometimes it's tough to date when you're a Trump supporter, so we're making it easier to find each other, who are like-minded and have the same political views."

New members can login with their Facebook accounts or register on the site. Each new account has to be approved by the Trump Singles Staff, and Goss says that his team makes sure that applicants are indeed Trump supporters and not just looking for a good laugh at the expense of others.

When the site launched, back in June, new members had the option to pay a $5 (Sh500) fee for unlimited use, but with the growing popularity of the site, that fee has now been bumped up to $19.99 (about Sh2,000) per month. You can always pay $159.99 upfront for a year-long membership, though.

"The Trump Single is just a fun-loving person. It's not anybody that's different from anybody else. We just have our views and when we stick to them and we're proud of them and we're not willing to give up on them just to date somebody," Goss described the typical user of his dating site.

Oh, and just in case you were wondering, the Trump Singles motto is "Making Dating Great Again". Bet you didn't see that one coming...
