MAN LYNCHED TO DEATH OVER THEFT AND MURDER

A man suspected for a wave of crimes including murder was lynched and burnt to death by rowdy and angry residents of Chepngaina near Bomet town.

The man who was in the company of another alleged to be his brother was descended upon by residents waylaid him on his compound.This was after they got a tip-off from the neighbors that the suspect was in his house.

Speaking to the residents on Friday the area OCPD Mr. Samuel Rukunga cautioned them against taking the law into their hands. Mr. Rukunga added that police in the area were looking for the runaway suspect who escaped after the incident.

The resident said that they have been searching for him, for long But he has been evading them.They claimed that they wanted to teach the man a lesson for what he had done.

"We have been searching for the man because of a heinous act he committed recently in this village but today when we found him emotions were high among residents and people beat him senselessly before setting fire on him." a villager who declined to be named said.

He added that another suspect escaped with serious injuries and he is being sought by the police in assistance with residents.

The residents said the latest crime the villagers are accusing them of committing was that of a dead girl who was found dead after she was allegedly raped and murdered by the duo.

The two are said to have caused the separation of their parents who fled to other locations for their safety as the two are said to be hostile to anyone around them, including their parents, siblings and other relatives.
