There is a famous saying that goes around which says that a woman is an enemy to another woman. I used to think that the saying was just but a fairy tale until I began looking around me. The evidence is in the woman standing next to you. The woman you call your best friend who will never compliment you for the littlest things you do or how great your hairstyle looks like. She will not do that because she looks at you like as a competition. She looks at your achievements and wonders what she can do so as to outshine you.

This vicious competition and lack of solidarity among women is what has made them find it hard to uplift and correct each other. After the announcement of the elections results in USA a research was done by an organization and it was found that most women prefer to have men in leadership positions than women. This ironical when men are busy voting for their own gender, women are busy exercising the infamous gender betrayal.

If they had stood up and voted for Hillary Clinton who not only was a woman but had stronger policies than Donald Trump, then maybe they would have opened doors of defeat for the gender betrayal. Maybe then they would have understood that it doesn't have to be a competition. It should be a woman to woman empowerment.

Women complain each day about how men are favored for promotions and they are left behind. Have we sat down and thought that maybe it’s the right skills that we lack for a promotion. Skills we would get if women who have made it in high positions took time to empower others rather than cling to the limelight while being afraid that if a woman was promoted then the attention that was on you would be driven away.

What we forget is that there is a room for every woman to grow and become that successful and confident woman. This present day sexism and backhanded thoughts women have developed need to be trashed and thrown to the bin because that is where they belong. It should be an insult to womanhood not to empower another woman.

The height of maturity and beauty of womanhood should be seen in how you help other women achieve their specific dreams. I quote The First Lady of USA Michelle Obama who said that success isn't about how much money you make, it’s about the difference you make in peoples life. That is what women should be doing. Make the difference in the life of another woman.
