Cases of child abuse are
on the increase in Kenya and the worst part is that children are attacked by
close relatives, including their parents and teachers, with whom they spent
most of their time in school. The recent case where a man killed his wife and
children in Murang’a is disturbing.
These abuses, coupled
with other forms of domestic violence, are signs of moral decay in our society
where parents are no longer playing the role of being role models to their
children. Instead, fathers are defiling their own children. Perhaps Parliament
should come up with even stricter laws to protect children.
