Varsity students in shock as colleague found dead in hostel

Shock gripped students of Laikipia University on when they woke up to find one of their colleagues dead in his hostel room on the outskirts of Nyahururu town.

The third year student's body was discovered by a security guard who, with the help of other students, had broken into his room after his father reported that he had been unable to reach him by phone since Saturday.

Nyandarua North OCPD Timon Odingo said several malaria tablets were found on a stool next to the student's bed, suggesting that he could have died from a serious bout of malaria. His body was taken to the Nyahururu District Hospital mortuary as investigations into his death began.
