CORD should change tack on naming flag bearer

Whatever is going on in the hierarchy of CORD is definitely not in the interest of Opposition followers, but a self-centered interest of each of the three co-principals.

It is a great let-down to the Opposition supporters who have over time and again witnessed unending squabbles in the outfit.

The three co-principals are in a position of recalling how sometimes they have had to "sail through murky political landscapes" together with humility and endurance.

The captain of that political ship is a courageous man who can steer through turbulent waters but can hardly land the ship into the dock, as all players on the other side of the game are known to have marshalled their entire stamina into the defence.

The team-players on the opposite side do not hate Raila. No! They actually love and admire him in the game of politics, but they also fear him.

It is this fear that gives the other side of the game sleepless nights. They are all aware that even a single word from this man can make a lasting difference.

The last time he used the word "Kibaki Tosha" and it made the difference. Now this time round, the leaders of the affiliate party members of the coalition seem to be aware that the Opposition chief may not stand but will definitely throw his weight behind a candidate of their choice.

This must be the cause of the ugly situation we are witnessing in the coalition, with a number of the leaders demanding that he should name the flag-bearer now.

The leaders are all intelligent people who can solve such a matter amicably at a round-table discussion without running to the Press every now and then with chest-thumping tendencies.
